Marisa Moens is one of the few ladies working in the construction office of the Maastoren. After having obtaining a degree in architecture at the University of Leuven, she went working as a construction planner on the Maastoren construction site.

What kind of work do you do?
As a planner I am a link between the architect and subcontractor. I ensure the construction drawings are all calibrated and that the guys on site have no problems working with them. At this moment I’m working on the fitting out phase, meaning I’m busy with the stairs and doors in the tower for example.

Do you like Rotterdam?
Off course it is a very modern city with lots of new architecture. Good examples of that I think are the Red Apple on Wijnhaveneiland, the Bridge building on top of the Blue Band factory but also the old train lift bridge near Maastoren. A lesser success I think is the new Police office building on Veranda with the green corrugated sheeting.

How pleasing is working alongside with the men?
Quite alright. I have no problems working with a lot of guys, although every once in a while you notice that they seem to restrain themselves when I am around, but other then that they’re all very friendly and helpful. I guess it’s just like any other office around here.
